The spirit of "Dizzy" lives on in this light and bright--and challenging--bebop tune. Based on rhythm changes, the entire head is presented by your jazz trumpet, trombone, alto, and tenor players—all of whom can get in on or mix it up in the open solo space. Saxes get a very challenging soli, then trombones, then trumpets (why should saxes get all the fun anyway?), before the tune erupts into a monster shout chorus that ends with a flurry of polyphonic bebop lines that almost self-destruct before order is regained. Medium-up swing; feature/solos for alto, tenor, trumpet, and/or trombone; Key of Eb Major; Trumpet to written C.
