Conversations with Giovanni Full Score and Parts
The Palestrina choral motet Adoramus Te is stunning in its sheer simplicity and beauty—moving through its seven phrases in a calm and deliberate way. The form of this composition first presents the complete melodic content of the motet, in a subtle groove that is at the same time respectful of the beautiful melody. Solo space for guitar, tenor, drums and/or taiko to close. In performance, I have used a recording of the original choral motet to precede this composition, kicking off the band opening exactly as the recording fades from the closing sonority and setting up the “conversations” that follow. "Metheny 6/8;” solos for guitar, tenor, drums, optional taiko drums; Keys of Bb minor/Bb Major; Trumpet to written C.
