Make a Joyful Noise Full Score and Parts
Setting by Martin Behnke
Two melodies from the Christmas Season form the basis for this festive composition, written to honor Dr. John Richards, a remarkable man who served as principal tubist with the Oregon Symphony Orchestra for 50 years. The work was originally composed for the Salem, Oregon TubaChristmas, which Dr. Richards had hosted and conducted for many years. This band transcription of the piece remains essentially as written for the tuba version, down to leaving the presentation of some of the melodic lines for the optional solo tuba—although here, it might well be played by the entire section.
